Degotoga means "We Stand Together", and that's what we do here at Degotoga Writing--we stand with you through the ups and downs of life by giving you a safe place to explore the human experience.
We've had a great first week following the launch of Flowers In Winter and we'd like to thank you for your purchases on e-book or paperback! Your support is thrilling and sharing these characters with you warms my heart. I've heard from several readers this week who are enjoying the characters and the antics of Sarah and her family. Please leave us a comment of who your favorite character is and why, I'd love to hear your thoughts as I begin working on the sequel.
Reviews are the heartbeat for an author’s success and I hope you'll drop back by Amazon and leave your reviews their. Also, cruise over to Goodreads and create a bookshelf there to track your literary accomplishments while leaving reviews for other authors as well. I feel comfortable in saying that your favorite authors will appreciate the attention so--be awesome, leave a review!
There's a couple people I want to thank for helping me make this writing dream a reality. Beyond the acknowledgements inside Flowers In Winter, I've been blessed with the assistance of three photographers during this process. So this month I'd like to thank Bohemian Life photography who did the original photo shoot for this novel. Not only did we gain a cover photo from this shoot but also the photos for promotion on social media. Thank you Bohemian Life for your excellent work!
Emily Kendall Photography did an excellent job on my author photos which you see featured here on the website. She had her work cut out for her because I'd worked a long day at school and was not feeling like being in front of the camera. We ended up doing two shoots, one outside and the other indoors, she was a rock-star both times! I've also decided that since I've changed my hairstyle, I'm taking a trip to Montana to do a new shoot...soon I hope! Thank you, Emily, for making the camera work to my advantage!
I'd also like to thank Raul Marroquin who takes excellent staff photos at the high school where I teach and agreed to let me use this year's photo for the book jacket.
Lastly, everyone needs to give a big shout-out to our Degotoga family intern-Riley, who is making all the tweaks to the website and creating the social media promotions. Riley keeps me on my toes and makes my life less complicated so I can take on the intense writing!
Friday, February 16th, we will be having our first book signing at Persona Wood Fired Pizzeria in Humble, Texas. Come join us for an evening of fun! The author meet and greet begins at 5:30, followed by a short reading from Flowers In Winter and a Q & A session. Book signings begin at 6:30. Please note that there will be a limited number of books available for purchase so come early or order your copy in advance.
The Galveston Island Book Festival is coming up in March and I'm super excited to be listed as an author who will be attending. We received an update this morning explaining that due to repairs from Hurricane Harvey, the event location will be changed. When the location is confirmed, we will update our event address on the website, on Facebook, and also note it here. So, plan to be at the beach on March 24th, bring everyone you love, and grab some books from Texas authors while you visit the island.
