It still counts for the month if I post this on the 30th, right? So, I had this awesome plan for the summer and...BAM!...a million other things got taken care of in June and July while yielding little writing. Alas, I've saddled up to the keyboard to bring you amazing updates, so here's the scoop...
Current Works In Progress (WIP):
July's blog, From the Fire Ring: Ode to Jody Foot, will either post this evening or early tomorrow morning. This post has been written as a tribute to my brother as my family moved through the first anniversary of his death. I wrote the short story earlier in 2018 as a way to process my grief. After receiving permission from my parents to publish it, I decided I didn't want to seek monetary gain from his loss. This short story is an exclusive for my blog, though my parents have suggested doing something more with it later with a percentage of the proceeds going to charities for the homeless.
Huldah: Daughter of a King...this is where my focus will be for the remainder of 2018. This WIP has received the most attention over the summer and I will be updating the progress over all the socials throughout the coming months. Check my projects for a synopsis.
Liv's Story...this is found on it's own page here on the website. This developing back-story for the Cash Family Saga will have several "reveals" as I work on the sequel to Flowers In Winter. I'm hoping to post a new entry in September, bear with me as I work out the kinks.
We Stand Together...I know, I know...you want it yesterday; so do I. Once the first draft of Huldah is finished I'll complete this WIP and kick into editing on both projects around the same time (crossing my fingers for January 2019). It's complicated, I'm still learning how to best handle multiple projects while satisfying my inner muse. Thank you for all the great feedback and support I receive weekly.
I love talking to people about their dreams and sharing my creativity with them too. It's an awesome feeling to see someone reading Flowers In Winter, and even better when we gossip about the characters. In May I had a lovely book signing with Chenda Tom and was able to intimately share details of my writing process with our audience. Chenda of course shared her story of escape from a Cambodian death camp, it gave me goose-bumps for sure! Many thanks also go out to Mr. Beck, the KHS Librarian who hosted us, you made it all too easy!
A few weeks ago I participated in the author event, All the Books. My table-mate was author and friend, GM Kelso. Mr. Kelso was promoting his book, Alonica: Rise of the Dragon Heirs. Check out his Facebook page where you can see pictures from COMiCPALOOZA-2018 and All the Books. If you love fantasy like I do, this is a read worth checking out! BONUS...Mr. Kelso is currently writing the sequel to his novel and I've had a sneak peak...it's going to rock!
Free 4 U Fridays will start back in September, new rules for the new school year. STAY TUNED!

Author’s Corner & Spotlight
And the spotlight goes to...Mason Urbina, who co-authored of The Millennial Survival Guide: Keeping it 100 in the 21st Century, with Dominique Demond Williams.
I knew Mason when he was in Middle School, his mom and I served in the military together and lived in the same neighborhood while going to college. It's outstanding to see the rising generation having productive hustles and bettering the world they live in. Great job, Mason! You can find both Mason & Dominique at www.wakeupmonday.com
You’ve made it to the end of the newsletter, thank you!
I've dropped several names and a ton of information this month so I'll refrain from too much more! I do however want to comment on the wonderful circle of friends and family who I call my tribe. 2018 has been a huge year of chasing dreams and I wouldn't be able to do this without an out-of-this-world support network! Also, I'd like to thank each of you readers for taking the time to browse through my thoughts, giving me shout outs, for your likes, shares, and follows as well. This author-thing is huge and I continue to be humbled and amazed. Enjoy the remaining days of summer! -J.
